Scientists discover how novel pathogens promote colorectal cancer development
Do BMMFs, the novel infectious agents found in dairy products and bovine sera, play a role in the development of colorectal cancer? Scientists led by Harald zur Hausen detected the pathogens in colorectal cancer patients in close proximity to tumors. The researchers show that the BMMFs trigger local chronic inflammation, which can cause mutations via activated oxygen molecules and thus promote cancer development in the long term. BMMFs and inflammatory markers were significantly more frequently detectable in the vicinity of malignant intestinal tumors than in the intestinal tissue of tumor-free individuals.

Cleveland, OH - Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that a grand jury has returned an indictment charging Selena Colon, 23, for a drunk-driving crash that killed two 19-year-olds in Lakewood last month.
“Ms. Colon was drunk-driving over 90 mph in a 35 mph zone. This resulted in the death of two wonderful friends and their families left in total anguish,” said Prosecutor O’Malley. “She will be held accountable.”
On February 21, 2021, Colon was driving eastbound on Clifton Avenue when she crashed into the victims’ car as they were turning westbound onto Clifton from Fry Avenue. Lakewood Police and Emergency Medical Services, along with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol, responded to the scene and processed it for evidence. Chairman of Trumbull diversity committee will not resign despite calls for her removal

TRUMBULL The town’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Task Force will continue with Tara Figueroa as its chair, despite an effort to shut the committee down until she resigns or is removed.
“I have not violated any ethical guidelines or codes of conduct,” Figueroa said. “This experience has really amplified to me why there needs to be such a thing as a diversity committee.”
Figueroa has been under fire on social media over comments she made in July calling the Blue Lives Matter flag a symbol of racial bigotry and comparing it to the Confederate flag. The town’s police union, Police Commission Chairman Ray Baldwin and scores of private citizens have called for her removal and social media comments have grown increasingly hostile.

Boron oxide could help remove colon cancer cells while causing less damage to healthy tissues, researchers find. Turkish researchers have found a way that could remove colon cancer cells using boron oxide that causes less damage to healthy tissues.
Ozgur Albuz, one of the researchers in the Turkish capital Ankara, told Anadolu Agency that they studied the effects of boron components in cancer treatment together with researchers from other hospitals.
Following the lab phase, the researchers hope to prove the benefits of boron against cancer cells with human and animal experiments, said Albuz, who works at the Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Oncology Training and Research Hospital.
